# [[Fall of Argynvostholt|Argynvostholt]] ## Log ![[The Fall of Argynvostholt-1789063893235.webp|right|300]]**Argynvostholt** is an ancient fortress in [[Barovia (the Land of)|Barovia]] that was once occupied by the [[Order of the Silver Dragon]]. ### History According to [[Novgor]], when [[Strahd von Zarovich|Strahd]] returned to Barovia and assumed the throne, he found the land in disarray and the [[Order of the Silver Dragon]] established at Argynvostholt. The Order followed what [[Novgor]] described as a **heretical form** of the [[Morninglord (Temple)|local sun religion]]. [[Strahd von Zarovich|Strahd]] eventually besieged Argynvostholt and defeated **Argynvost**, an actual silver dragon who defended the fortress. Legend claims that the battle filled the sky with silver fire and blood-red magic. According to the same legend, Argynvost's skull was taken to [[Castle Ravenloft]], where it now decorates the great hall. ### In [[008_20260717 Session 8|Session 8]], The Gang learned more about Argynvostholt from [[Morganta, Dream Pastry Lady|Morganta]], who mentioned it in passing. ### In [[014_20260904 Session 14|Session 14]], The Gang learned more about Argynvostholt while examining a small bell being sold by [[Novgor]]. [[Zar]] translated two Draconic inscriptions on the bell: - **Order of the Silver Dragon** - **Sound this when you are in need** Novgor said that the bell was an authentic relic recovered from a revenant patrolling near Argynvostholt. The small bell was made in imitation of a much larger bell atop the fortress's chapel.
