## Backstory
Andraste Amo III is a human sorcerer, who was raised in [[Elturel, the Holy City|Elturel]]'s [[Kelemvor (Temple)|Church of Kelemvor]]. She may be a shallow and pampered nepo-baby. But the clerics of the temple, the tutors who came and left a few months earlier than retained, the scribes from the rectory, the novitiates in the eastern wing, and the groundskeeper—many of whom suffered weeks of having to mentor the wayward girl—will tell you she is genuinely kind and optimistic, and that's nothing to sneer at.
Andi was raised and educated in [[Elturel, the Holy City|Elturel]]'s cloistered [[Kelemvor (Temple)|temple of Kelemvor]], with the expectation that she would one day take on her mother's role as Head Mortarch. To this end, as soon as the girl turned ten, her mother began the long (and fruitless) process of apprenticing her around the temple. No one dared refuse [[Mortarch Andraste]] though they could plainly see Andi would be hopeless at maintaining the gravitas of a last-rites ceremony. She would be incapable of focusing on a ritual casting of gentle repose. And, penmanship aside, she would be insufficiently patient to copy religious texts for distribution. And by the time all clerical options were exhausted, no one dared snicker when they saw Andi stabbing at the dirt with a spade under the pained and often averted gaze of the groundskeeper, who was expressly forbidden from lightening the load of someone who didn't seem to appreciate how difficult life would be without the vocation that was her birthright.
But this was untrue. Even as a child, [[Andraste Amo|Andi]] wanted nothing more than to follow in her mother's grave footsteps. Sure, she spent most of the day talking to her friends on sending stones, living vicariously through their trips to “school” or the marketplace. Whenever her sending stones were taken away, she would write lengthy letters to her best friends, a tiefling named Shadani and an elf named Arabella. And she spent many evenings hosting parties. After all, wasn’t dancing under progressive castings of dancing lights good practice for her future as a mortarch?
Against all reason, [[Andraste Amo|Andi]] truly loves this journey for herself and believes it to be her destiny. It doesn't even faze her to recall the last utterance from her mother as she was handed off to a handsomely paid group of doomguides, to "for the love of [[Kelemvor (Temple)|Kelemvor]], go grow the hells up." Having been tasked with facing the harsh realities of life outside the temple, [[Andraste Amo|Andi]] eagerly anticipates getting her first bruise from sleeping on a nothing but an eiderdown bedroll, learning to build a non-magical bonfire, and maybe fishing, like Shadani does with her family (because Shadani's family doesn't have a lot of money, but they know worldly secrets like where fish and meat actually come from before they get to the kitchen staff). Before she knows it, she expects to return home to the lavish lifestyle, the steady supply of silk robes and headdresses (albeit all black), the ceremonies, and most importantly, the visitors who come for peace or restoration from all around the city and its surrounding protectorates.
