## Backstory
Zar is a knight of [[Elturel, the Holy City|Elturel]], forged beneath the unwavering radiance of Amaunator’s Gift.
Raised among the faithful and trained under the disciplined order of the [[Hellriders]], he was once known as a Dawnbound Knight of the Radiant Oath—a title given to those who embody the ideals of devotion without compromise. To [[Zar]], duty was never a choice. It was certainty. He stood for truth, for justice, and for the protection of the innocent, not as distant ideals, but as principles to be lived without hesitation.
Those who knew him in [[Elturel, the Holy City|Elturel]] would have described him as resolute—perhaps even unyielding. A man who did not waver, even when others did. He carries himself with that same discipline still. His posture is straight, his movements deliberate, his voice measured and calm. He instinctively places himself between others and danger, as if guided by habit rather than thought. His armor, though worn from travel, bears the unmistakable marks of careful maintenance—polished where it matters, functional above all else. A holy symbol rests at his side, not prominently displayed, but never far from reach.
[[Zar]] himself is broad-shouldered and weathered from the road, with dark hair kept just short enough to stay out of his ember gold eyes. His features are sharp but composed, the kind that rarely betray more than he intends. His gaze is steady—perhaps a touch too steady—holding eye contact just a moment longer than most, as if weighing every word before it’s spoken. His hands are calloused from training and battle, often kept gloved, though not always. When bare, there’s the faint impression of old markings or tattoos across them—nothing immediately remarkable, easy to overlook unless one lingers. He does not speak much of his journey. Only that he was sent to this land with purpose. That there is evil here that must be faced. And that as long as he still draws breath— he intends to see that duty fulfilled.
- Prior to [[001_20260429 Session 1|Session 1]], he had already been in the [[Barovia (the Land of)|land of Barovia]] for over a month. During that time, he lost any allies he managed to find, while looking for a [[Hooded Figure|hooded man]] with a potential connection to [[Strahd von Zarovich|Strahd]].
- On his original trip to [[Barovia (the Land of)|Barovia]], he had a guide who didn't make it back. His reason for returning this time is different from his reason for coming to [[Barovia (the Land of)|Barovia]] the first time. wtf so evasive.
